Over the course of three years I found myself writing a new song every winter that was outside of my usual style. I realized it was due to the fact that I was using these projects to briefly escape reality and fill them with whatever nostalgia, emotions and hopes I had heavy in my heart, leaving a piece of my soul behind in each one. It was writing music with meraki, that brought peace.

meraki [may-rah-kee] (adjective) This is a word that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love — when you put “something of yourself” into what you're doing, whatever it may be.
